Rev. Dr. Krista S. Givens is the kind of missionary, minister and human being who runs toward the suffering of others, not away from it. 

In the summer of 1998 while driving down the road, Rev. Givens came across the immediate aftermath of a catastrophic vehicle collision. 

“I wanted to help,” she recalls. “I wanted to comfort. I wanted to reach inside myself and grasp the wisdom to know the right words….I thought, ‘If I were a minister, I would know what to do.’” 

Rev. Givens has traversed the globe to bring hope and comfort to people in need of compassion, serving in Hawaii, California, Nigeria, Germany and today, in Spain. 

As pastor for international ministry at La Siesta Evangelical Church in Alicante, Spain, Rev. Givens’ calm pastoral presence and gifts for compassion and communication help create a bridge between her mostly immigrant congregants and the local Spanish culture. Helping parishioners navigate the Spanish healthcare system when medical crises arise is a vital aspect of Rev. Givens’ ministry.
