How do we help our neighbors prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters?

Most of the patients who come to the Irambo Health Center in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), are mothers.

They come with their children, weighed down by illness, poor overall health and hopelessness. By the time they reach the center’s doors, some are even close to death.

The Global Health team focuses primarily on women and children because, sadly, women and children often make up the most vulnerable members of the community, bearing the brunt of isolation, poverty and limited access to medical care.

Our approach is holistic. Modeling our work on the selfless love of Jesus Christ, we work to empower the physical, emotional and spiritual welfare of everyone we serve.

In other words, Global Health does all in its power to help vulnerable mothers and their children thrive, not just survive.

With the help of people like you—and the local partnerships we have cultivated over many years—our Global Health team is hard at work helping mothers and their children receive life-saving, holistic integrated care.

Your gift today will help us continue to partner with communities, health workers, hospitals and clinics worldwide, working through locally-based initiatives to empower vulnerable mothers to not only overcome disease and survive, but also to thrive and prosper together with their children.

“My children and I were only waiting for death. Then I went to the Irambo Health Center and received antivirals for HIV and AIDS. With the other support I’ve received, my children don’t miss meals anymore.”
