Discovering God’s Grace in Cambodia
In Cambodia, Global Ministries missionaries Reverend Andrew Soon Lee and Janice Sehyung Lee lead a multifaceted ministry that includes the distribution of digital gospel lessons heard by tens of thousands. Today, the Methodist Church of Cambodia (MCC) thrives in 10 districts with 55 senior pastors and 70 lay leaders shepherding 7,500 Christians.
Your contribution to missionaries in Cambodia stretches beyond Phnom Penh to Christians and non-Christians throughout the country and even around the world. Because of their use of digital technology, the Lees believe that is just how far the gospel is reaching.

Giving Sustenance and Safety to Survivors of War
Read on for examples of how, together, we are helping people devastated by the war in Ukraine. Your gift today will empower us to help the forcibly displaced around the world.
A Mother’s Courage
Heavy fighting forced Tatiana and her seven-year-old daughter to flee their home in a Black Sea harbor town in southern Ukraine.
After two months of living with a friend, they moved into a hotel-turned-shelter in southwestern Ukraine. But the building’s lack of beds and central heat drove them to look for alternatives.
Eventually, Tatiana was connected with an UMCOR-IOCC supported Eleos-Ukraine shelter in the Chernivtsi region in the eastern Carpathians.
“Everything was different from the hotel,” says Tatiana. “Good infrastructure, a clean room and staff who always listen to you and try to solve your problems.”
After receiving medical checkups and legal consultation, the pair qualified for state social assistance. Tatiana found a job and her daughter was placed in a nearby school. “Lots of people we don’t know care about us and want to help,” says Tatiana. “I have only one dream now: that my parents (who still live in Kherson) will see their granddaughter again.”
On the Frontlines of War: Longing for the Sound of Silence
In the city of Mykolaiv in southern Ukraine, air raid sirens scream day and night.
On the war’s frontline, Mykolaiv is never safe from rockets, artillery and cluster bombs. The air raid sirens have become
a permanent fixture of a city under constant siege.
Of the tens of thousands of people who remain in Mykolaiv, some are previous evacuees who had no choice but to return when their money ran out. Others remain in the ravaged city because they have nowhere else to go.
Thanks to people like you, UMCOR is distributing ready-to-eat meals, medical resources and other humanitarian relief to survivors hiding out in basements and bomb shelters. The pre-cooked meal kits complete with utensils simplify consumption when kitchen amenities are limited or nonexistent. And the medical resources are life-savers to the hundreds of people injured daily by shells and bombs.

Help Devastated Survivors Rebuild
Read on for examples of how, together, we are helping to restore the lives of survivors affected by natural disasters. Please give a generous year-end gift to help us continue providing humanitarian assistance to survivors of severe weather in the United States and around the world.
Lifting Up the Brokenhearted in Florida
Sixty-nine-year-old Jane* eyed three piles of paper at her feet: papers to throw away, papers to burn, papers to keep. There were crayon drawings, her mother’s death certificate and stacks of greeting cards.
“I’ve been dreading this,” she said. “I was hoping another hurricane would come and blow it all away.”
Since Hurricane Ian made landfall near Cayo Costa, Florida, in September 2022, Jane and her 31-year-old son have been living in a donated RV until their house can be made livable again.
Thanks to the generosity of people like you, a $2 million UMCOR long-term recovery grant is assisting survivors like Jane and her son. It is also providing aid to people affected by Hurricane Nicole, which followed two months after Ian in November 2022.
Forrest White, Director of Missions of the First Methodist Church of Lakeland, Florida, is among the volunteers who assisted Jane and her son.
“When we show up for people affected by disaster…we are tangible reminders of God’s love and God’s presence,” he says.

Leveraging Every Dollar for Survivors
When severe weather devastated communities in Texas’ Rio Grande Valley in April 2023, UMCOR helped provide water, food and other relief supplies; coordinated debris removal and other cleanup efforts; and assessed how to address survivors’ long-term recovery needs.
Thanks to UMCOR’s informed and reliable infrastructure, expert leadership and experienced volunteers, every dollar received is leveraged to work as hard as possible. For example, this past summer UMCOR’s $2 million Florida grant was buttressed by the sweat equity of 100 volunteer construction teams totaling a crew of about 600 volunteers. The value of their donated labor is approximately $380,000.

Helping Mothers and Children Thrive
“My children and I were only waiting for death,” says Charlotte Apua Cizungu, a 43-year-old mother of four in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Every day mothers like Cizungu come to Irambo Health Clinic in Bukavu, DRC, with their children, weighed down by illness, poor overall health and hopelessness. By the time they reach the center’s doors, some—like Cizungu—are close to death.
But thanks to the generosity of people like you, Cizungu received help at a Global Ministries partnering health facility. She and her children received the medical care they needed not only to survive, but to thrive.
Give now to Global Health and help the marginalized not just survive—but thrive.
