In addition to meeting survivors’ immediate and long-term needs, UMCOR has also been empowering the community to respond more effectively to future disasters and to reduce the impact of future severe weather.
Thanks to the help of a nearly $2 million UMCOR grant, these efforts have included:
Give today and support survivors like Michael, who said New Mexico’s UMCOR-led volunteer effort brought him “in from the mountain” and restored “his faith in humanity.”
Psalm 94:22 reminds us that God is a fortress and a haven of safety—not only after the storm passes, but right in the middle of the turmoil. For survivors in northern New Mexico, that refuge has looked like neighbors showing up, volunteers digging in and people like you from near and far donating funding to help make recovery possible.
Healing from wildfires and floods takes time, trust, and a consistent presence. By giving monthly as a sustaining partner with UMCOR, you help ensure that steady presence is always there.
Your recurring gift allows UMCOR to walk alongside vulnerable communities like those in north-ern New Mexico—not only in the immediate aftermath of disaster, but also through the long months and years of rebuilding. Monthly support strengthens UMCOR’s ability to plan faithfully, respond efficiently and equip communities to reduce the impact of future disasters.

For many survivors of the triple disaster, recovery has been slow, with federal and state aid limited or unavailable.
But thanks to people like you who generously support the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), in the midst of so much grief, something powerful has taken root: community.
UMCOR responded at once, leaning into partnership with trusted recovery groups and volunteer networks to collaboratively serve survivors as the hands and feet of the church in mission.
“But the Lord has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.”
— PSALM 94:22 (NIV)
