THIS MOMENT MATTERS. BECAUSE FEEDING COMMUNITIES CAN ALSO FEED YOUR FAITH.

Significant cuts to USAID and other international development funding streams have placed strain on already struggling community-based agricultural programs worldwide—including initiatives like the Yambasu Agriculture Initiative (YAI) that rely on the leadership of missionaries like John Nday and partnerships that strengthen food systems and reduce hunger.

These reductions mean that fewer resources are available for missionary leadership, critical training, tools and technical support that help families build sustainable livelihoods.

Join a growing community that is building a future for deserving people around the world.

Success stories like Kamah Kiah’s don’t happen overnight. They grow through faithful, consistent support that nurtures families in their step-by-step journeys to more sustainable living.

The area in rural northwestern Liberia, where Kamah Kiah lives with her four children, lacks sufficient infrastructure like schools, clinics or marketplaces. So when the Yambasu Agriculture Initiative (YAI) invited Kiah to participate in a new animal husbandry project, not everyone believed it would succeed. Some even said that Kiah and other participants were wasting their time.

But Kiah persevered.

YAI trained Kiah in pig farm management. She learned how to optimize feed, prevent disease and monitor reproduction. In addition to the piglets, she received feed, medication and a new pig pen.

“This project has empowered us with knowledge that will improve our lives.”

What began with four animals has now grown into a thriving community enterprise of 24 pigs. Plans are underway to build more space to support the expanding herd. About a year ago, the first sale was made, marking a new chapter of financial stability.

This moment truly matters. Your faithfulness in improving the lives of the vulnerable is an act of worship and makes our life-affirming work possible.

John Nday, a Global Ministries missionary living in the Mozambique South Annual Conference, serves with the Yambasu Agriculture Initiative (YAI) in the Southern Africa Central Conference. With specialized training in sustainable agriculture and animal husbandry, John brings the technical expertise needed to help communities grow resilient futures.

Nday’s own life was shaped by hardship. Separated from his family as a child due to the lack of schooling in his rural community, he found refuge in the church. There, he learned a core Methodist conviction—that improving the lives of the vulnerable is an act of worship and makes life-affirming work possible.

Empower John Nday and other missionaries like him when you support God’s work of restoring lives, land and livelihoods.

When you become a sustaining giver, your monthly gift helps ensure that life-affirming ministries like the Yambasu Agriculture Initiative (YAI)—and the missionaries like John Nday who carry out YAI’s work—can continue providing training, tools and hope long after the first seeds, crops and piglets arrive.
