Sadly, Escobar, who is general director of the Mary Jo Phillips Methodist Daycare Center in Asunción, Paraguay, must turn them away.

The center, which serves working mothers (about half of whom are single parents), cannot accommodate more than 30 children at a time, and the wait list is teeming with hope-filled families.

Escobar longs to help more working mothers, single parents and other underserved Paraguayans break free from the cycle of poverty.

Escobar served as a Global Ministries missionary to Paraguay from 2013 to 2018, directing the Mary Jo Phillips Methodist Daycare Center and living in Asunción with her Paraguayan husband and their two sons, now adults.

After a few years in the United States, Escobar sensed God’s call to return to Paraguay. In 2022, she assumed her current position as general director of the same facility she previously served.
